To achieve business continuity quite commonly redundant systems are used, which are standing by to provide services in case of primary system failure. This type of redundant systems spend most of their time doing nothing useful. This is even more true when geographically redundant systems are in question.Besides application services data has to be protected as well and it has to be available for the redundant system in case of switching to it. This is more difficult to do than it seems, especially when using Oracle's Standard database edition.Is it at all possible to construct a redundant system that wouldn't idle most of the time, would be ready to take over primary load and could guarantee that no data is lost?The presentation will show how such systems can be built.
