The Oracle Database has the reputation of being expensive. However this does not necessarily have to be the case. Looking at the case from 3 angels:
• Standard Edition DBA exploring opportunities
• Enterprise Edition DBA looking to prepare for SE
• Business Consultant looking at opportunities these people were surprised by the lack of knowledge.
This lead to the idea to promote the Standard Edition Database from within the community. Successfully repeated after the inaugural session at OUGF14, the SE RT is aiding Oracle’s strategy on the “2 Socket Datacenter”.
During this interactive presentation you will find out when and why Oracle Standard Edition (One) can be a good option for your project. In a super interactive way the “presenters” will take you through a number of considerations like:

• Scalability, from SEO to EE

• License considerations
• Do’s and Don’ts
• SE Wishlist
From their individual backgrounds, there will be different takes on the topics. As this is made into an interactive round table, in the end of the session, you will have determine the agenda!

Philippe Fierens, author
Philippe is an independent Oracle DBA and architect and Oracle Ace Associate and a regular speaker at Oracle Usergroup conferences. As a consultant he helps his clients to find efficient, cost efficient, performing and creative solutions, he likes to think with the client. Jan Karremans, coauthor
Jan started his IT career in a medical facility of the Royal Dutch Army in 1992 as an administrator on a Datapoint Mainframe. In 1994 the medical facility switched to using Oracle 7.1 on a Micro VAX 3100, which kicked of his career in Oracle. From 1998 Jan supported the development of a system for health-care administration. Over the years Ecaris evolved to an APEX based solution.In recent years Jan came in contact with Dbvisit from New Zealand. In 2011 he started working as a Business Development Manager for Dbvisit. Most recently Jan joined Austrian based FOEX, a company specializing in enhancing Oracle Application Express to meet data intense implementations.Also Jan made his appearance as a regular speaker at Oracle User Groups around the world, with a debut at UKOUG_Tech13, including DOAG14 and OOW14.
His work for the Oracle User Community was recently recognized with an Oracle ACE award. Congratulations for the success.
