Trends in the development of GIS systems and web GIS technology are now increasingly turning to open source technologies. IGEA Open GIS Portal is web based, cross-platform and service oriented GIS solution for building business GIS applications and GIS viewers, allowing integration with existing information systems. It’s challenging to develop a generic solution that could be placed as a product and in the same time flexible and extensible enough to satisfy different client needs. That objective was met and IGEA Open GIS Portal is stable and interoperable platform which enables definition, migration, styling, viewing, modifying, versioning, authorization and querying spatial data in user friendly environment. It supports OGS standards/services, common spatial interchange formats and popular spatial databases Oracle Spatial/Locator, MS SQL Server and PostGIS. Backend is based on Spring and Java persistence API and server side spatial components written in Java GeoServer, GeoNetwork and GeoWebCache. Web client is based on a popular JavaScript open source mapping library OpenLayers and GeoExt.
IGEA Open GIS Portal enables users to implement GIS systems according to the guidelines of European INSPIRE Directive which is focused on building European spatial data infrastructure and defines harmonization framework based on common rules implementing key components – metadata, data specifications, services, sharing of data and services, control measures and reporting.
The conference is organized by the Croatian Association of Oracle users. More about the association can be found at Hroug.hr.
