Facing the issue with increasing requirements from business and growing number of different physical hardware we evaluated possible scenarios for our future architecture. Decision was made to go with Oracle VM 3.3 and during presentation I will go through key reasons for this. Why Oracle VM seemed best fit for us and what benefits we got using it.Also I will share how hardware sizing was done against old hardware and how Oracle VM architecture was designed with different server pools. Will show migration plan from old architecture to new. I will explain how Oracle VM was installed together with SAN using iSCSI and what was learned during installation process. Typical OVM usage and pros and cons will be discussed as well.

Working total of 15 years with Oracle products. Started initially as Oracle DBA and now almost 10 years as Oracle Apps DBA / Architect with multiple upgrades and implementations along the way. Normal day consists of working with Oracle eBS, OBIEE, HFM and OVM as a technical architect not forgetting hands-on work.Handling also storage, backups and networks. Solving every day operative issues and trying to keep up with new products without creating too many challenging situations. Been always working with Oracle products and several years as DBA and apps DBA gave good background to continue as architect. Enjoying testing and implementing new things!
